The Hurdy Gurdy Man es un álbum del escocés Donovan, escrita y grabada a primeros de 1968  y

Publicada como single en Mayo 1968 y en album en octubre de 1968.

La mayoría de canciones de The Hurdy Gurdy Man LP,  fueron escritas durante la estancia de Donovan en la India

En  1973 (Live in Japan) Tour de primavera1973  Donovan canto el “verso perdido » por primera vez, que escribió George Harrison.

To find that I was by the sea, gazing with tranquillity.   ‘Twas then when the hurdy gurdy man come singing songs of love. Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy, he sang.   When I wrote this song I was in India  with four Beatles, one “Beach Boy” and Mia Farrow.   We were gathered together one day in the maharishi’s bungalow, these four Beatles, one Beach boy and Mia farrow.   There was an embarassing silence in the room. Maharishi he sat crosslegged on the floor,  on his disc as was his wold.   And John Lennon, the wit and the humorous, he decided to break the the silence so he walked up to the maharishi as he sat on the floor and he patted him on the head and he said: «there’s a good guru!»   We all laughed and maharashi laughed the loudest. Later that night as we were gathered together on the roof of our bungalow, under the tropical indian stars, we brought out the guitars and I started to write this song. It went like this:   oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo.   And George Harrison he turned to me and he said: «I could write a verse for that song, Donovan.» and he did, but I never recorded it! But would you like to hear that long lost verse of George?   Yeah!   Okay, George wrote, I love george, he said this:   when the truth gets buried deep beneath the thousand years of sleep time demands a turn around and once again the truth is found.   Yeah, George!   Awakening the hurdy gurdy man who comes singing songs of love. Then the hurdy gurdy man they come singing songs of love.   Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy, he sang. Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy, he sang. oo-oo-oo,                oo-oo-oo.   Arrojado como una estrella a mi gran sueño, abrí los ojos para echar un vistazo, y descubrí que estaba a orillas del mar, contemplando con tranquilidad,   Fue entonces cuando el Hurdy Gurdy Man, … llegó cantando canciones … de amor entonces cuando  el Hurdy Gurdy Man, … llegó cantando canciones … de amor   “Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy “ él cantaba Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba   Wah-wah-yeah-yeah-yeah   Historias de tiempos pasados,  … Sombras sin luz proyectadas A través de toda la eternidad,  … El llanto de la Humanidad.   Es entonces cuando el Hurdy Gurdy Man, llegó cantando canciones de amor entonces cuando el Hurdy Gurdy Man, llegó cantando canciones de amor   Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba   “Cuando yo escribí esta canción estaba en la India con los cuatro Beatles, un “Beach Boy” y Mia Farrow.   Estábamos reunidos un día en el bungalow del Maharishi, estos cuatro Beatles, .. un “Beach Boy” y Mia Farrow.   Hubo un silencio embarazoso en la habitación El Maharishi se sentó con las piernas cruzadas en el suelo, en su disco (alfombra) mientras estaba en su mundo.   Y John Lennon, el ingenioso y jocoso, decidió romper el silencio,  así que se acercó al Maharishi mientras él estaba sentado en el suelo y le dio unas palmaditas en la cabeza y dijo: «Este es un buen Guru!»   Todos nos reímos y Maharishi se rió a carcajadas Más tarde esa noche, mientras estábamos reunidos subidos en el tejado de nuestro bungalow, bajo las estrellas tropicales de la India sacamos las guitarras y empecé a escribir esta canción. Decía así:   oo-oo-oo,  … oo-oo-oo.   Y George Harrison se volvió hacia mí y dijo: «Yo Podría escribir un verso para esa canción, Donovan«. y lo hizo, ¡pero nunca lo grabé! Pero, ¿te gustaría escuchar ese verso perdido hace mucho de George?   ¡Sí!   OK, George escribió, te quiero George, dijo esto:   Cuando la verdad esté enterrada a una profundidad por debajo de los mil años del sueño  (el arca de la alianza) las exigencias de tiempo dará la vuelta (volver atrás) y una vez más la verdad será descubierta.   Sí, George!   Despertad que el Hurdy Gurdy Man viene cantando canciones de amor. entonces el Hurdy Gurdy Man, Ellos vienen cantando canciones de amor.   Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy él cantaba   Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurd.   Ho!
